The people of Maidenhead had lots of questions for us on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Join Adam, Ian and our guest Glen Scrivener from Speak Life, delve into some of them:

  • How can God be three and one at the same time?
  • Is Jesus the same as God?
  • How does Jesus’ divinity work together with his humanity?
  • Why did Jesus come to earth?
  • Why did Jesus have to die, couldn’t God just forgive sins?

Maidenhead’s Questions is run by St Mary’s Maidenhead (the Church behind the Bear Pub). Everyone is welcome to join us on a Sunday. We meet at 8am, 9:15am, 11am, 4pm, and 6:30pm.

In this introductory episode of Maidenhead’s Questions, host Adam Curtis sits down with local author and speaker Mark Meynell to pull back the curtain on a new town-wide initiative: “God my question is…”

Maidenhead is a town full of people with big, important questions—about life, faith, and God. Rather than assuming we have all the answers, St. Mary’s Church is launching a survey to find out what the people of Maidenhead are actually asking. Adam and Mark discuss the “why” behind the project, the value of honest questions, and how we plan to bring in respected Christian thinkers to address the top questions you’ve raised.

In this episode we look at the inspiration behind the Maidenhead town wide survey, why St Mary’s Church wants to listen before we speak, and we address the initial scepticism people might have about a project like this. Why are you God bothers bothering me? Are there even answers? Should people even care what God has to say?

About Our Guest: Mark Meynell

Mark Meynell is an author, traveling speaker, and ordained minister who has called Maidenhead home for nearly a decade. He has a diverse background in ministry. He has taught at seminary in Uganda, been a vicar in central London and worked with Christian leaders across Europe and the Caribbean.

A prolific writer, Mark has authored several books, including  and . He is deeply interested in the intersection of faith, the arts, and cultural apologetics, and blogs regularly on these topics at .

If you are listening to this before the 3rd May 2026 then and would like to participate in Maidenhead’s Questions then please head over to  and let us know what your question is!

Why should atheists or agnostics be punished for not believing?
What does God think about other religions
If you are a Christian can you honestly say you have had a conversation with God or is it just a fussy feeling or reading a bit of the Bible you find helpful which could just be a coincidence?
Who is responsible for evil. God or satan? And if satan then why create him/it
How many people at church truly believe in God and how many just come for the social element?
How can I tell whether I’m better suited to staying single or getting married?
What does God think about trans rights?
How can you be both the Savior of the world and also our closest friend? Isn’t this too good to be true. Aren’t there too many inconsistencies with this
Do Christians have confirmation bias, they want to believe God is at work so attribute coincidences to him
If Christians pray to God and he speaks to them why doesn’t he make clear which teachings are “correct” so there are less denominations?

About Maidenhead's Questions

A town wide survey that asked the people of Maidenhead what their questions for God are. We ran this survey between the 20th April and 3rd May 2026, and we received 468 questions. We then took these questions and are now producing podcast answers based on the five most popular topics.

St Mary’s Church Maidenhead (the Church behind the Bear pub) is organising this survey, producing the podcasts and hosting this website. We are an evangelical Church in the centre of Maidenhead. You can find out more about us on our website: www.stmarysmaidenhead.org

We at St Mary’s believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the Saviour of the world. However, we know that many people question this claim and indeed have some important objections to the Christian faith. We respect those questions and want to help people find answers as it is our desire that everyone will put their trust in Jesus.

The aim is to release an episode 15th May that deals with some of the most popular questions.

Welcome to Maidenhead’s Questions

It is simple. We all have questions that we want to ask God, and we would like to know what yours are! Are you there? Are you good? Do you care? Whatever the question is, we would love to hear it. The aim of this survey is to find out what the people of Maidenhead’s big questions for God are. The most popular questions will then be turned into podcasts where answers will be given by respected Christian thinkers.
